What is the farm bill and why does it matter?

For many years agriculture has been working along side the government to feed the world and continues to do so every year. With a growing population and increased food prices the farm bill is important to keep intact.

The farm bill is put up for discussion every 5 years to see what could be added, adjusted, or made better to help the world keep turning and keep people fed.

The farm bill sounds like it would only be for farmers and agriculturalist but it is far from that. The farm bill supports three different paths of keeping the world turning;

  1. Farmers

  2. Anti-hunger programs

  3. Environmental impacts

This video, produced by the Food & Environment Reporting Network, unpacks this complex law, the most important piece of legislation that shapes America’s food, farm and anti-hunger programs.
